WHEN you think about working at NASA, you think astronauts, rocket ship engineers and lots of scientists. But what about a staff sniffer?
For nearly 40 years, George Aldrich has had possibly the weirdest job in the world, he is the staff sniffer for NASA. His job requires him to do exactly what you’d expect. He has to sniff everything that will be sent up to space. Everything.
It sounds pointless, but it is actually an extremely important job, because even the tiniest of smells can hang around in space for years. Those smells can then annoy the astronauts affecting their productivity and even make them sick.
